June 12, 2010

It's been 2 months and a lot has happened for us. We are currently under contract for a tear down in La Grange, IL. We are really excited about this property. The lot is a bit larger than most in the area and we got a great deal on it, so we are happy. We've been in Chicago now for 7 months so it's nice to have a plan. We are currently looking at house plans and hopefully will start building by the end of the summer. We originally wanted to live in La Grange, but started increasing our search area because we weren't finding what we wanted. Our new lot is located on the first block north of the train. We are about 3 blocks from the train station which gets you downtown in a bout 20 minutes. We are also about 8 blocks from downtown lagrange which is filled with restaurants, shops, movie theatre, trader joe's, borders, etc. If you go west we are about 1 miles from downtown western springs, which an oberweis is located. We are just on the other side of the tracks from the high school (Lyons Township). George will be about 20 minutes closer to work and I will be about 40 minutes closer, WOOHOO!!

Giovanni is doing great. He will be 3 years old in just a month. We are planning his birthday party now and can't believe how big he has gotten. He is officially potty trained. He wakes up dry from his naps/overnight the majority of the time. He still likes to go #2 in a diaper so we will be working on that. He has begun really talking a ton. He really loves Thomas the Tank Engine. He loves his train table and pretty much plays with that everyday.

February 21, 2010

All is well at the Paul House (really Papa Phill's house). I don't have any pictures to post today, but I thought I would let everyone know the happenings with us. George has been working his new schedule for about a month now. He leaves for work around 9:30 pm at night (just as I'm ready to go to bed) and he comes home around 9:15 am. Lucky for us Gina has been watching Gio while I'm at work and George sleeps, however she just got a job (yeah!!) and starts on Monday. We found a daycare that is not far and on my way to work. The great thing is they are completely flexibile with our crazy schedule (four days one week, one day the other week) and are only charging us for the time he's there. The main teacher he will be with is great at Potty training!! Woohoo!! I am excited for him to have more social time with other kids, he really enjoys playing with kids. I think this will be a nice balance.

What is Giovanni up to now that he is 2 years 7 months?
  • He sleeps in a big boy bed all by himself
  • Uses silverware and drinks out of a cup
  • Favorite foods: salami (you can tell he has some italian in him, he LOVES it), macaroni and cheese, chicken noogets, doonuts, stawberries, MILKSHAKES, chocolate, any pasta, raisins, breakfast sausage (all spelled how he asks for them)
  • Favorite toys: trains and cars, puzzles!!!!, Geotrax ( a big hit since he has the cars and train version), crayons/coloring books
  • Favorite tv shows: #1Bobbob barepants (Spongebob), #2 Mickey Cubhouse, #3 PhinusNFerb (All one word to him)
  • Common phrases: "What are you doing?", "Mommy wait"(if I leave the room), "Where did Daddy go?", "Are you okay?", "Oh dear"
  • Accomplishments: Can count to 10 (sometimes can go higher,20? but all sounds like **teen, etc.), can sing the alphabet (thanks to Aunt Gigi), can put together his puzzles, Is jumping without fear from the top of the couch an accomplishment? If so, he definitely has accomplished that!!!

Other than Gio, we are still looking for houses. We are leaning towards building but hoping something comes up. Thanks to Papa Phill, we are able to stay here and save $$. I get eager everyday because the commute is killing me. The past two weeks it has taken me at least 1 hour 20 minutes to get home and sometimes that to get in. However, it really has been great staying here. Gio and my dad get along fabulous and he even watches Gio so George and I get to go out for dinner often. It is very great having family close, everyone really helps eachother out!!

The other major thing right now is planning Gina's wedding. Gio and I went with her yesterday and we bought her dress!!! It's beautiful!! I know she is excited. I'm having fun helping her plan. Today we are going to Legoland for Mason and philly's birthday parties, so hopefully I'll have some pictures to post from that!

Love to all.
